Mark’s home town is Ada, Ohio, where he graduated high school in 1973. He chose the path of working with his hands in several industries learning quite a few trades, such as carpentry, tool and die. As a single dad with three small children, he became very active in their lives. Moving to Sarasota in 1984, he began coaching youth football, volunteering as a youth group leader at Beneva Christian Church, and serving as a camp counselor for several years at the Christian Church Conference Center in Ocala, Florida. He also married his wife, Maggie, in 1984, and their blended family became an amusing challenge, as well as the foundation of many great memories! A huge history buff, Mark became involved in Civil War reenacting in 2005, and has had the privilege of teaching middle schools and the community about our nation’s civil war through Living Histories presented at various locations throughout the year. He enjoys hiking, civil war reenacting, traveling and gardening. Beneva Christian Church welcomed Mark’s family into its congregation in 1985, and Mark feels he has made many deep friendships over these many years.
